Nebraska Cancer Specialists (NCS) is looking for an experienced Patient Care Coordinator for our New Patient Team. As the first contact with NCS, you will schedule appointments and gather, triage, and maintain incoming new patient records.  You will help schedule new patient referrals to the practice as well as coordinate referrals and authorizations with the billing department. Someone with provider scheduling experience as well as accessing medical records would be an ideal fit for us. We hire people that have a positive attitude and live to serve others!

Key Responsibilities:

Manage incoming referral requests and scheduling of all new patients by phone.

Respond to all callers needs within 24 hours. 

Request all necessary medical records (patient histories) and documentation.

Attach all necessary medical records to patients chart in EMR.

Collaborate with a team, act as backup, and be available to support Provider scheduling of appointments.

Provide courteous customer service and maintain composure when dealing with difficult situations.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Some college or continuing education is preferred.
  • Two years of medical office or procedure scheduling in specialty care environment is preferred.

Skills:

  • Active listener, detail oriented multitasker.
  • Ability to problem solve and anticipate issues.
  • Strong excel skills with some analytical abilities.
  • High level understanding of chronic disease.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and acronyms
  • EMR experience
  • Clear understanding of HIPAA policies.
  • Familiar with commercial insurance carrier procedures.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service meeting quality standards that increase patient satisfaction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal relationship skills and team player emphasis.
  • Ability to process large amounts of complex information.
  • Ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose the appropriated course of action.
  • Ability to work independently in a high demand environment and complete assignments with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Ability to discern and prioritize appointment urgency, following company guidelines
