*This position will be filled at a level commensurate with the successful candidate's skills and qualifications and the business needs of Northern Natural Gas Company. Actual job title and compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications.  

Purpose of Position

Develop strategy, create incremental and optimize transportation and storage revenue through effective management of capacity availability in response to market opportunities. Provide analytics and reporting support to manage and maximize storage and transport business. Work in concert with marketing management, account representatives, legal, regulatory, gas control and facility planning to provide customer satisfaction with existing and expanded transportation capacity services.

 

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Develop strategy, create incremental and optimize transportation and storage revenue through effective management of capacity availability in response to market opportunities.
 
Develop, analyze and administer daily and monthly reports needed to manage and maximize pricing and storage desk transport business and revenue on Northern Natural Gas pipeline.
 
Assume responsibility and assure accomplishment of key transportation and storage accountabilities such as reporting and invoice review of complex agreements, scheduling activities related to purchases/sales, and administration of risk management responsibilities.
 
Provide analysis of internal and external transportation and storage information and trends and provide recommendations to maximize revenue. Develop and maintain market intelligence regarding market prices and conditions.
 
Assist in the internal flow processes for existing transportation services to meet customer needs and satisfaction in a timely manner.
 
Act as a liaison between marketing and facility planning to maximize the efficiency of Northern’s pipeline system for improving marketing sales.
 
Assist internal and external customers in the interpretations of NNG’s tariffs and procedures with primary focus on awarding of capacity.
 
(Sr. and/or Lead level of responsibility)
Review and negotiate structured complex agreements for transportation or storage services including contracts, precedent agreements, operational balancing agreements and other legal documents.
 
Participate in the location, evaluation and negotiation of the purchase or sale of pipeline assets to improve Northern’s business platform.
 

Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

 

Qualifications
 
Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, business administration, or related field; or equivalent work experience.  (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)
 
Eight or more years of related experience within the energy industry.
 
Broad knowledge of company functions (regulatory, legal, financial, commercial, operations, gas control, etc.).
 
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
 
Effective oral and written communication skills.
 
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
 
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
