Position Description

Lindsay Corporation is hiring a Sr. Software Engineer within its IT division, reporting to the Director of Business Solutions. This important role will be responsible for designing, implementing, delivering, and supporting software solutions for Lindsayâ??s various business applications. Additionally, this role will also be responsible for performing routine maintenance on these solutions, as assigned each development sprint. Furthermore, this role will be responsible for leading the overall design and architecture of global business application projects and solutions and mentoring and training junior software engineers on the design and architecture, as well as Lindsayâ??s various software engineering processes, policies, and procedures. These projects and solutions will have a significant impact on global business processes and, in most cases, will be highly visible to customers, end users, and executives.


Position Details

This is a full-time, salaried position that is based in our Omaha, NE office and includes a highly competitive salary/benefits package plus eligibility for annual bonus compensation. Travel requirements will be minimal (<15%), but there may be some travel to various, global office locations.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads the design, development, testing, delivery, and support of high-quality software solutions for Lindsayâ??s various business applications
  • Acts as the subject matter expert, mentoring other stakeholders and engineers through expertise and knowledge of the current global business applications
  • Leads solution design efforts, working closely with internal IT and business to develop and deliver modern business application solutions on time and within the function specifications
  • Works with Business Applications team and management to identify and prioritize development and enhancements of digital transformation solutions
  • Performs routine maintenance on the existing codebase for the various Lindsay business applications and solutions, as assigned during each sprint
  • Codes and configures software functionality according to functional specifications and business requirements
  • Heavily participates in code reviews, design reviews, or other forms of team quality assurance procedures
  • Locates and defines new process improvement opportunities
  • Support and maintain meaningful and appropriate internal documentation for development work, as well as end-user training and materials as needed
  • Unit tests code and debugs thoroughly prior to hand-off
  • Researches and resolves reported software problems efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner
  • Adheres to and models the Lindsay software organizationâ??s coding standards and guidelines, as well as the group's various processes, policies, and procedures
  • Clearly communicates issues and roadblocks in order to maintain sprint scope and efficiency


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelorâ??s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical education or equivalent experience.
  • 9+ years of relevant, professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years of experience leading the on-time delivery of net-new software engineering projects/solutions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where constant iteration, improvement, and innovation is key to the success of the team
  • Robust problem-solving skills, the ability to learn from doing, personal accountability, and a positive and professional attitude
  • Ability to clearly and rapidly communicate problems and solutions in order to prevent bottlenecks and facilitate the release process
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid understanding, experience, and ability to mentor others on the following: Web APIs, 3rd Party API Integration, Agile Scrum, Git Flow
  • Strong knowledge of ETL processes and software (IBM Infosphere, SSIS, etc.) is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages and languages for analyzing datasets (R, Python, SPSS, SAS etc.) is preferred, but not required.
  • 6+ years of demonstrated proficiency and experience with all of the following languages, technologies, and tools is preferred:
    • C#/.NET
    • Angular
    • SQL databases (i.e., Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, cockroachDB, etc.)
    • NoSQL databases (i.e., Cassandra, mongoDB, etc.)
