Human Trafficking Specialist (full-time)

Summary

In coordination with the Program Manager, Assistant Program Manager, and Sexual Assault Coordinator develop and facilitates the human trafficking program, including participation in statewide and national prevention initiatives. Provides services to human trafficking survivors. Along with the Volunteer Coordinator, organizes volunteer opportunities for volunteers and student interns. Plans and implements training for community agencies and service providers. Provides above services to the nine-county service area.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with community partners to develop guiding principles, strategies, and plans; conduct comprehensive needs assessments; determine education, training, and prevention priorities based on assessed needs.
  • Design and conduct education, training and human trafficking programming based on guiding principles, strategies and plans as well as best practices and evidence-based practices in the response to human trafficking.  Research, evaluate and select outside consultants and trainers to meet training needs as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with community agencies to offer professional development training for their staff, volunteers and/or service users. Coordinate training and education programs within the community, partner agencies, schools, medical and behavioral health fields, faith-based communities, and ancillary disciplines as directed.
  • Assists with the planning for Human Trafficking month and participates in annual events and media campaigns
  • Develops/maintains curricula for trauma education/support group, facilitating as needed
  • Prepares grant paperwork and bi-annual reports, statistical summaries, quarterly goals and other reports as needed
  • Maintains client files and enters statistical information into agency database
  • Works with Program Manager and staff to develop annual budget plan.
  • Perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the dynamics of all forms of human trafficking, domestic, sexual violence, trauma-informed care and the principles of coordinated community response.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.  Ability to schedule concurrent activities.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people having diverse social concerns and problems.  Good knowledge and familiarity with needs and resources in the community.  Requires knowledge of appropriate intervention techniques for working effectively with a variety of problems related to sexual abuse and domestic violence. 

 

Travel to our service area sites required.  Overnight travel for continuing education required on a limited basis.

 

Position requires some evening and weekend hours.

 

 

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Solid knowledge of social work and practices as would normally be acquired through a Bachelor in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field and 1-2 years of related job experience.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.  Ability to schedule concurrent activities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people having diverse social concerns and problems.  Good knowledge and familiarity with needs and resources in the community.  Requires knowledge of appropriate intervention techniques for working effectively with a variety of problems related to family violence. 

 

Computer Skills 

Demonstrates proficient computer skills and familiarity of Microsoft Office software applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  May also require the ability to use Access, and desktop publishing software as required.  Ability to learn and effectively use various data collection and database management systems to record data as required.  Demonstrates familiarity and proficiency with Internet tools and techniques for searching, extracting, and processing information.
