Job Title: Finance Intern
Location: Lincoln
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Finance
Status: part-time, hourly


The Finance/Accounting department is responsible for supporting management with various financial recordkeeping, analysis, and support tasks and projects. The Finance Intern will report directly to the Director of Finance, but will also work closely with the all members of the Finance and Accounting departments in a support role. Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.



  1. Support the Finance department in completing various financial analysis projects through data compilation and review.
  2. Assist in the observation, assessment, and refinement of Finance department processes and procedures, including documentation via flowcharts and/or narratives.
  3. Provide feedback to improve efficiency and effectiveness of observed and documented processes and procedures.
  4. Assist in the completion of periodic financial trend and variance analysis documents as part of the Finance departmentâ??s review of monthly organizational operating results.
  5. Compile and update financial metrics for the organizational dashboard and/or key performance indicators used by the Nursing Workforce Committee, or other assigned financial documents.
  6. Assist with the preparation of annual budget materials under the direction of the Director of Finance or Financial Planning & Budget Analyst.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
  1. Follow instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department.
  2. Work in collaboration with other members of the Finance and Accounting departments to gather information and answer questions in the course of completing assigned duties and tasks.
  3. Maintain positive working communication with other departments in the course of providing financial support to Madonnaâ??s clinical areas and support departments.
  1. Maintain and ensure a safe environment for the department. Handle and operate all necessary equipment and perform required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
  2. Operates phone, computers, printer, copier, fax machine, Microsoft software and any other equipment needed to perform job duties.


Sedentary work - Lifting 25 pounds occasionally or lifting and carrying 25 pounds occasionally. Approximately 80% sitting, 20% walking/stand. Stooping/kneeling is required to pull files from lower drawers and reaching/twisting to answer phone. Indoor work - not exposed to outside elements or hazards. Constant near visual acuity. Requires sufficient sight to see and read reports and computer screen. Requires sufficient hearing and speaking to communicate by phone or in person.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training and/or Experience)

High School equivalency and currently enrolled and attending college in finance or related program.
Background checks are conducted. When specific authorization forms are requested so that full background and history can be obtained, employees/applicants must sign the form(s) requested.
