Formed in 2017, the
Alliance brings together Creighton University, Dignity Health St. Joseph's
Hospital and Medical Center, Valleywise Health and District Medical Group, Inc.
(DMG). The Alliance aims to increase the number of physicians and other
health professionals in Arizona by improving and expanding current health
education programs. Most recently, multiple graduate medical education (GME)
programs consolidated under the Alliance, making it one of the largest Graduate
Medical Education providers in Arizona, with more than 30 residency and fellowship programs under the Alliance umbrella.
Creighton University's expansion to Phoenix includes the construction of a 183,000 square foot campus. Opening in 2021, the Creighton University Phoenix Campus will be home to 900 students in the School of Medicine, College of Nursing and School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.
The Senior HR Generalist will be responsible for leading the Human Resources function for Creighton University in Phoenix, Arizona. The Senior HR Generalist will report to the Senior Director for Human Resources and will work closely with the Creighton Human Resources Team located in Omaha.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
Faculty and Staff Recruitment: The Senior HR Generalist will lead the faculty and staff recruitment function for Creighton University in Phoenix, which includes placing advertisements; working with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducting reference checks; and extending job offers.
Onboarding: With support from Creighton's Human Resources Team in Omaha, the Senior HR Generalist in Phoenix will ensure that all new Creighton employees in Phoenix have a smooth, efficient and impactful onboarding experience. This includes working with department leaders to make arrangements prior to the employee's first day and ensuring all necessary pre-hire information is collected from the employee (application, resume, background check, reference, I-9, tax forms). The Senior HR Generalist will lead New Hire Orientation Sessions, in partnership with Omaha team.
Compliance: The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring that Creighton University is compliant with all local, state and federal employment laws.
Benefits Consultation: The Senior HR Generalist will respond to basic questions about benefits and will collaborate with the Benefits Team in Omaha to resolve complex issues.
Performance Management: The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for leading the Performance Management Process for Creighton employees in Phoenix. This includes advising managers and employees on goal setting, evaluation and documentation of performance. In addition, the Senior HR Generalist will provide advice and consultation to managers as needed to deal with employees whose performance is not meeting expectations.
Employee Relations: The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for Employee Relations for all Creighton employees located in Phoenix. This includes conducting and documenting investigations and resolve complex employment issues.
Employee Engagement: The Senior HR Generalist will collaborate with the Creighton University leaders in Phoenix to build and foster a diverse and inclusive work environment that is welcoming to people from all backgrounds and traditions, and that is consistent with Creighton's mission as a Jesuit, Catholic employer.
Talent Development: The Senior HR Generalist will partner with the Senior Talent Development Specialist to provide learning and development opportunities for Phoenix employees.
The Senior HR Generalist will not be directly responsible for the management of other employees but will lead through influence.
Human Resources Competencies
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The Senior HR Generalist will be required to travel by plane to Omaha, up to 10% of the time. Routine local travel within Phoenix will be required to visit various work sites.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position may require long hours and weekend work.
A bachelor's degree and seven years of human resource experience, or nine years of experience in the HR field. Must have experience as an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner.
Preferred Education and Experience
A master's degree in human resource management.
Experience with mergers and acquisitions preferred.
Experience in an academic healthcare or health system setting preferred
