Position Summary | The College of Pharmacy at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is excited to expand its Pharm.D. program to onsite instruction and training at the UNMC new distance campus in Kearney, Nebraska. Located in the heart of the Great Plains, Kearney is 186 miles west of Omaha. The city features a vibrant and welcoming community with a population of around 35,000 and offers a host of cultural and recreational amenities. As part of this expansion the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science (DPPS) is recruiting for an open-rank faculty, non-tenure leading, full time position with expertise and experience in teaching professional degree students. The DPPS is located at the main UNMC campus in Omaha. The newly appointed faculty member will be based in the Douglas A. Kristensen Rural Health Education Complex on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus and play a leading role in teaching and supporting pharmacy students of all years. Classes are held in person for students at the Kearney campus, and via synchronous, fully interactive A/V technology with students at the Omaha campus.
Job Description: Outstanding candidates are sought with experience teaching professional students in person and remotely. Opportunities for the establishment of a clinical practice in inpatient or outpatient settings and scholarly activities are available. Senior academic administration roles (assistant/associate Dean or program director) may be considered for suitably qualified candidates. Candidates with prior faculty experience in a U.S. college of pharmacy will be prioritized.
Qualifications: Candidates who share our commitment to innovative teaching, service/practice, research, and leadership are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will possess a Pharm.D. or PhD. Completion of a pharmacy practice residency or equivalent is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The faculty member will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science and be provided with a competitive salary. If a senior academic title is granted, the individual will also serve on the college executive leadership team. The UNMC Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science recognizes the importance of a diverse faculty and strives for an inclusive culture within the Department and College of Pharmacy. We strongly encourage applicants from diverse populations to apply, especially those underrepresented in health sciences.
Application Instructions: Interested individuals are requested to submit a letter of application with a brief description of practice goals, teaching philosophy, and research focus along with their curriculum vitae. Anticipated start date is from summer 2024. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
