Our team of doctors, advanced care providers, nurses, therapists and researchers provide the region's most advanced medicine at multiple facilities, campuses, clinics and classrooms. We offer patients convenient access to innovative treatments and advancements that improve the health and overall wellbeing of our community.
Responsibilities The USA Health Administrative Internship Program provides both undergraduate and graduate students with a broad range of healthcare experiences.
During the internship, participants will be employees of USA Health so that they can experience working in a healthcare setting. The intern's schedule can be flexible, but the student should be willing to commit to regular hours within our facilities. The internship timeline will take place over 12 weeks, however, this can be adjusted according to the intern's availability.
(i) Preceptor-led project- Student will assist with a preceptor-led project, developing a student-led project, absorbing various management duties, and pairing with other USA staff members to gain an authentic
perspective of roles outside of the department.
(ii) Mentoring - Students will meet approximately every 2 weeks with other interns and an Organizational Development mentor to debrief, ask questions, and share insights. Meetings may be virtual or in person depending upon the student's schedule.
A typical week would encompass the following:
• Consistent hours in designated area for the week(s). Intern is responsible for attending and recording hours worked.
• Working closely with a preceptor to complete an assigned special project.
• Mentoring session with other interns once a week (either virtually or in person TBD.) Sharing information to learn from and help others
Qualifications All candidates must meet all of program qualifications to be considered for a position:
• Active or accepted degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a career in health administration.
• In good standing with their academic institution.
• No prior history of academic probation.
• Clear background and health screenings.
• GPA minimum average of 3.0.
• Ability to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week.
• Ability to commit a minimum of 150 hours within the semester.
Required for students seeking class credit.
