Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology Specialty Unit position requiring an active IL RN license and night shift availability.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital-based Med/Surg Oncology Specialty Unit
- Night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:30am, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Care for oncology patients including administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy
- Med/Surg and oncology patient populations with possible procedures such as bone marrow aspirations
- EPIC EMR experience required and utilized
- Responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care including head-to-toe assessments, starting IVs, inserting NG tubes, performing dressing changes, administering medications, and inserting foley catheters
- Expected to access and maintain Mediports throughout shift
- Must assist with bone marrow aspirations at bedside
- Provide emotional support to oncology patients and their families
- May administer outpatient oncology treatments after hours for patients from the Outpatient Cancer Center
- Documentation must meet departmental standards as evidenced by chart audits
- Holiday coverage may be required per unit needs
- RTO may not exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
- Contingent workers may not be on assignment for more than 1 year and require a 6-month break before returning
- No travel partners are accepted for this role
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing; temporary license accepted
- Minimum of one year of recent Med/Surg or Oncology nursing experience required
- Associate's degree in nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Experience with EPIC charting required
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma setting required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (no locals)
