Description The Network Systems Architect works closely with the Customer supporting the infrastructure to create, facilitate, and implement new network designs, via the following activities: Serves as the lead technical expert for the organization in the strategic oversight and planning for network engineering projects and programs. Oversees the strategic interface for network system configuration, strategically plans new configurations for network operation using knowledge of the characteristics of the systems being added to the network, and the specifications for network interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance. Establishes overall network standards and priorities optimizing of the network/system performance. Provides complete assessments regarding the technical characteristics of the proposals and alternatives considered to optimize network performance. Oversees the design, evaluation, selection, implementation, and support of major networks; reviews and evaluates network performance, risk and financial analysis feasibility studies. Requirements Current and active TS/SCI with Polygraph level clearance. Bachelors and 12+ years of experience; Masters and 10+ years of experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum 10 years of network specific experience. Strong written and verbal communications skills Demonstrated experience developing technical requirements and conducting technical reviews. Self-starter able to balance competing projects and meetings. Ability to make plans for themselves and teams, following up on progress. Thorough knowledge of the TCP IP protocol suite, IP subnets, masking, and routing protocols. Knowledge of network architectures and how to implement them while maintain existing architecture. The ability to understand and document the current network architecture and report on it. Thorough knowledge of network operations. Thorough knowledge of network bandwidth, application requirements, routing through network devices or public network extensions. Knowledge and experience in project management. Project planning and management skills, including scope of work, time estimation, and resource assignment. Strong interpersonal skills to be able to resolve problems quickly and professionally.
